On June 27, 2017, the American Water Works Association formally designated the “Altoona Reservoir System” as an American Water Landmark. This prestigious award recognizes the efforts of the City of Altoona to provide a safe and reliable drinking water supply in the late 19thcentury. Through a unique system of dams, channels and diversions, the system continues to function and protect the Horseshoe Curve water supply.
