Functions of the Department:
The Department of Accounts and Finance performs all financial accounting functions for the City of Altoona except for those reserved by law for the elected Controller. These include budget preparation, budget administration and budget monitoring, city wide purchasing, payroll, capital improvements financing and the investment of City monies. The Finance Department also provides administrative assistance to the various pension plans of the City of Altoona.
