Plumbing Permits
City of Altoona, Pennsylvania

A plumbing permit is required for:
  • Water service lines
  • Installation or replacement of fixtures
  • Sewer lines
  • Hot water heaters
  • Installation or replacement of dishwashers
  • Drains, vents and water distribution systems
  • Water softeners
  • Installation or replacement of drinking fountain
Some plumbing work requires a construction drawing to be submitted to the Plumbing Inspector for review.  Please contact our office to see if this applies to your particular job.

Be advised only a Master plumber who is licensed with the City of Altoona may obtain plumbing permits for the above work.  There are two exceptions to this regulation: homeowners may obtain plumbing permits for water service line installation/replacement and for installation/replacement of hot water heaters.

Our department requests a 24-hour notice for scheduling an inspection.
