City of Altoona Comprehensive Plan
The Altoona City Planning Commission will be holding a public meeting on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the City of Altoona Margaret Avenue Training Facility, 1747 Margaret Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602 to receive and address questions and comments regarding the proposed Comprehensive Plan, “All Together Altoona” (see the plan website, www.alltogetheraltoona.org).
The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range planning document that will provide the City with a vision for the future and a path towards that vision. The City is developing “All Together Altoona” as an implementable plan. To ensure this, it will include the following critical components:
- A decision-making framework based on community values and planning principles
- A set of priorities and goals for focused attention by public and private sector partners
- Guidance on “what goes where” to shape future development and redevelopment in ways that support community goals
- Implementable strategies that will help the community work towards specific outcomes
This public meeting will initiate a 45-day comment period. A public hearing will be held by City Council after the comment period concludes and prior to adoption. The proposed Comprehensive Plan will ultimately be implemented through ordinances, capital improvements, and local initiatives.
