Jesse Ickes
Councilman

"As a first-term Councilman, I look forward to working with our citizens, city employees, other members of Council and the Mayor, and businesses to help Altoona prosper for our future generations.  Our City has a rich history dating back to the mid-1800s.  Our community combines the opportunity of a larger community with diverse markets, including: healthcare, education, trades, the arts, and nonprofits.  Altoona has great potential and I look forward to serving you on Council.

Some of my goals as a first-time Councilman include: simplifying codes and permitting for businesses and individuals, using common-sense approaches for government operations, fiscal responsibility/accountability, and being open with our residents on how our City is performing.

I'm a lifelong resident of Altoona.  I graduated from Altoona High and went on to receive my undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration area in Accounting and a minor in Entrepreneurship.  I'm a small business owner and Financial Advisor; my partners and I have an office in Lakemont.

My wife and I reside in the 6th ward with our children, Samuel, Timothy and Elizabeth.  In addition to my duties on City Council, I'm involved in numerous nonprofits that work to benefit our community.  My wife and I belong to First Baptist Church of Altoona and in my free-time, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, bowling, and golfing."
