Mayor Matt Pacifico was first elected as Altoona’s Mayor in 2013.  On November 3, 2015, he was re-elected as the City’s full-time Mayor, a newly-created position under the City’s Home Rule Charter.  Mayor Pacifico has been instrumental in initiating a number of strategies to improve the City’s financial outlook and attract new business, which in 2017, helped Altoona successfully exit Act 47, Pennsylvania’s distressed municipality program.  Making Altoona the fastest City to ever accomplish this feat. The Mayor works with state and federal representatives and officials to bring about positive change to the community.

Mayor Pacifico serves on the Board of Directors of the Altoona Blair County Development Corporation, the Greater Altoona Economic Development Corporation, and the Altoona Redevelopment Authority.  He is also actively involved in the Pennsylvania Municipal League where he currently serves as President, and the National League of Cities where he is a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Federal Policy Committee. Mayor Pacifico was appointed by Penn DOT Secretary, Leslie Richards to serve on the Pennsylvania Autonomous Vehicle Task Force. In 2017, Mayor Pacifico was named to the “40 Under 40 Rising Stars” for the City of Altoona and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Mayor Pacifico played an integral role at Pacifico Bakery serving as Operations Manager for 10 years, overseeing all functions of the business from mixing to shipping.  Mayor Pacifico is a 1999 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and has two sons, Ethan and Angelo.
