Dog Park Project

Dog Park Project

Posting Date:

01/21/2026

Project Description:

The City of Altoona is considering two potential sites to build a dog park.  If the project would move forward it would consist of two fenced in areas, one dedicated to large dogs and one dedicated to smaller dogs.  This would create a safe space where people can take their dogs for exercise.  The two locations being considered include Garfield Park in current open space adjacent to 11th Street and the City owned open space located along 36th Street between Broad and Beale Avenue.  Please view the site plans and provide comments including if you are in favor of a dog park and if so the preferred location.  Public comments will be received until February 20, 2026.
