City Urges Safety During Recreational Fires
The City of Altoona is permitting recreational fires at this time, however, since we are experiencing very dry conditions, city residents are reminded to exercise extreme caution and abide by the following rules for recreational fire safety:
Recreational fires:
- Are required to be 25 feet away from your structure
- Are required to be in a portable outdoor fireplace
- Must be attended at all times and a garden hose should be available nearby for immediate use
- Should be no more than 3 feet wide by 2 feet tall
- Should only burn sticks and clean, untreated dry wood
Finally, residents enjoying recreational fires should be respectful of their neighbors and their surroundings.
